INBio’s president received the 2011 National Culture Magón Prize

Rodrigo Gámez, Premio MagónOn May 14, our national theater dressed fancy for the presentation of the National Culture Magón Awards 2011, which is presented every year by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.  At INBio we were proud to see our president and founder, Dr. Rodrigo Gámez, receive this important award.

Dr. Rodrigo Gámez Lobo is INBio’s president ever since its foundation in 1989.  His work has always been oriented to develop INBio as a biodiversity research and management center, seeking to support national efforts to understand our country’s biological diversity and promote its sustainable use.  For INBio, the acknowledgment of our president , is very meaningful, since it reflects that the scientific work done in research of biodiversity is also part of our country’s culture, and that it is being taken as seriously as we intend it to be. 

On the other hand, our Nation’s President, Laura Chinchilla, stated on her closing speech “with your actions, you help restore the best of our nation’s soul, this is a tribute from our homeland to you.”

Congratulations and thanks Dr. Rodrigo Gámez, for the important work you do every day, which is acknowledged by our country through this award.
