Opisthobranch locomotion is achieved through a combination of muscular waves, the drag produced by cilia on substrate, and a mucus secretion. The mucus is secreted by big mucous glands on the anterior part of the animal. Some swim to escape from predators. For swimming, some animals have developed lateral extensions that act like fins or wings to provide propulsion.
