Description
Antenae with 11 segments, serrate or pectinate. Antennal insertions exposed or concealed. Visible portion of procoxa globular with the trochantin concealed. Procoxal cavity externally open and internally open. Mesocoxae separated by 0.4 to 1 coxal width, with mesocoxal cavity laterally open. Tarsal formula 5-5-5. Numberof ventrites 5 with 4 connate. Body length 5-8.2 mm. Moderately elongate and pubescent. Metacoxal plates absent and metatrochanters very long. Tarsal claws pectinate. Cerophytum.

Quick identification
Cerophytidae first family of beetles generally known as click beetles (because of their ability to jump while producing a clicking noise) Cerophytids differ from all other click beetles by the complete absence of metacoxal plates combined with the presence of pectinate tarsal claws.
