Quick identification

Lepiceridae are distinctive beetles which bear some resemblance to georissine Hydrophilidae and may occur with them in sandy areas bordering streams. The group is easily recognized by the 4-segmented antennae, of which only the last large segment is usually visible, and the 1-segmented tarsi with a single claw. The genus Lepicerus occurs from Mexico to Venezuela.
