Suborder Polyphaga, Series Cucujiformia, Superfamily Tenebrionoidea.

Description
Antenae with 11 segments, filiform or serrate. Antennal insertions concealed. Visible portion of procoxa projecting bellow prosternum with the trochantin concealed. Procoxal cavity externally open and internally closed. Mesocoxae separated by more than 1 coxal width, with mesocoxal cavity laterally open. Tarsal formula 5-5-4. Number of ventrites 5 without ventrites connate. Body length 1.5-15 mm. Distinctive wedge-shaped body. Head sharply constricted posteriorly to form concealed neck. Abdominal apex with spine-like process.
