Suborder Polyphaga, Series Cucujiformia, Superfamily Cucujoidea.

Description
Antenae with 10 segments and a 2 or 3 segments club. Antennal insertions exposed. Visible portion of procoxa transverse with the trochantin concealed or at least partly exposed. Procoxal cavity externally open or closed and internally open. Mesocoxae separated by 0.4 to more than 1 coxal width, with mesocoxal cavity laterally open. Tarsal formula 5-5-5 or 5-5-4 in all males, . Number of ventrites 5 without ventrites connate. Body length 1.5-2 mm. Broadly ovate to oblong, subglabrous or pubescent. Prominent, strongly curved frontoclypeal suture. Antennae club relatively large, compact and pubescent. Mandibles with setose cavities above.

Quick identification
Sphindidae are characterized by having a strongly arcuate frontoclypeal suture (second figure) a relatively large, 2 or 3-segmented antennal club, and basal tubercle and cavity on the mandible (second figure).
