General protocols of collecting, rearing, and mounting Culicidae larvae, pupae, and adults are as follows. These protocols have been developed taking into consideration the recommendations of Walter Reed (Biosystematics Unit, Smithsonian Institution), Dr. Mario Vargas (Universidad de Costa Rica), Dr. Darlene Judd (Oregon State University) and our own experience. Some protocols have been modified according to our resources, and some others are still being modified to maximize the collected material.
