Taxon Selection
The TWIG members realized that many groups of
small Diptera were under-represented in the INBio collections, because
of their small size and required collecting methodology. They therefore
recommended a realignment of collecting effort for the remainder of
the seven-year period, with less emphasis on the larger flies (already
well represented in INBio collections) and greater effort on small Diptera.
Some effort must be put as well on particular habitats like beaches
and marine estuaries and on specialized niches like ant nests and those
of other social Hymenoptera.
